The restoration of this 19th century China Trade painting of the American ship M. Bartlett off Hong Kong challenged the talents and dedication of several restorers from our studio over a period of years. As the painting came to us without a frame, a custom period reproduction was ordered and installed. This style frame is appropriate for a great many paintings of the Chinese Treaty Ports, brought to this country as souvenirs from voyages to China in the 1800s.
