Sam Vokey has become one of the most successful and accomplished painters of New England and beyond. After graduating with honors of Bowdoin College in 1986, he came to the Fenway Studios in Boston to study with the leading teachers of the famous Boston School Tradition. Today he paints still lifes, portraits of children, gardens and harbor scenes with equal facility, and is widely admired and well liked by both his collectors and fellow artists. In the paintings of Sam Vokey one finds a great respect for traditional artistic values, but his work is rooted firmly in the enjoyment of the present with no trace of yearnings for the past.
